Happy 100th Birthday Cub Scouts!

This year for the Blue and Gold we had a birthday party. We ate pizza with cake and icecream and played party games. We played musical chairs to the 50's hit "Charlie Brown". The boys loved it and were singing the song the rest of the evening. We also played pin the badge on the Cub Scout and broke a pinata. It was rowdy excitent and the boys all went home laughing with smiles on their faces. It was the perfect celebration of all that is fun about scouting.

41/2 feet of snow and counting!

January's pack meeting was canceled because the snow just won't quit falling. We planned to go sledding but it was too cold and wet. Maybe it's a good thing I was a little worried about loosing some of our smaller scouts since the snow is so deep!

Salute to Heroes!

This month for cubscouts we went to the fire department. Keith Adams and Alan Torgersen talked about fire safety and what to do if the boys houses were to catch fire. Since most house fires occur at night they put on their fire fighting gear including the respirators and turned off all the lights then crawled around looking for the kids in the dark. It was a little scary to only see their shadows and to hear the weird breathing sounds of the respirators. Hopefully it helped the kids so they won't be afraid in a real emergency and will call out to the firefighters to make it easier to find them. The boys all tried on fire fighter clothes and then the highlight of the evening was the ride on the fire trucks with everyone getting a least one turn. We had lots of awards presented and Jaden Young advanced to Boy Scouts. We'd like to congratulate Jaden on his accomplishments and hopes he enjoys Boy Scouts.

For pack meeting this month we raked leaves at the State Park. We raked up 8 really large bags of leaves, the boys all worked really hard. Afterwards we all ate really yummy homemade carmel and apples.

Scouts are Patriotic

Stanley Stowe came and helped us retire a scout flag that had gotten torn. He gave a very patriotic presentation and then had the cubscouts help him retire the flag by respectfully lowering it into the fire. While the flag was burning Caleb Christensen played TAPS in the background. Everyone really enjoyed the evening and learned a lot about our Great Country!

Be a Sport!

This month we held pack meeting at the elementary school and played some fun outside games. The Wolf den taught us fun tennis ball bounce game so that they could pass off their requirement to teach someone a new game. We also played Frisbee Baseball and a quick game of Kickball.

The Bear den did an outdoor flag ceremony to pass off a requirement. Everyone was impressed at how respectful they were. Way to go guys!

Kai earned his Arrow of Light and George Nez came to pack meeting to welcome him into Boy Scouts. The boys all lined up and gave him the scout salute. Thanks for being a good example to your fellow scouters Kai and good luck in Boy Scouts!

Day Camp

This year the Panguitch Stake was in charge of Day Camp. It was held at the Red Canyon campground. The boys had a GREAT time! They built catapults, walked across a monkey bridge, had relay races, shot BB guns and Bow and Arrrows. They also went on a hike. Everyone went home happy and tired!
